Tamara Henningham (she/her) is the CEO & Founder of Henningham & Associates. With over a decade of experience in the field, Tamara specializes in Family therapy and healthy relationships. Through thoughtful discussion and collective support, Tamara encourages others to utilize effective mental health techniques to improve their lives.

Pira Karunakaran (she/her) is a placement student at Henningham & Associates. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) from Trent University and an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Addictions & Mental Health from Durham College. She has spent the past five years working collaboratively with seniors, youth and adults of diverse communities to achieve their goals on their journey to wellness, overcoming substance abuse and instilling positivity and resilience.

Everyone is so different and comes from all walks of life. Therefore, there is no way therapy is a one-size-fits-all service

This belief motivates Pira to take a holistic approach to therapy, taking into consideration the client’s individuality - including their personality, sexual and gender identity, ethnicity/race, lived experiences, spirituality and strengths to make therapy well-suited and personalized for the client. As a daughter to immigrants and a woman of colour, Pira values taking a cultural and trauma-sensitive approach to therapy. Pira is bilingual and can offer services in English and Tamil. She uses CBT, DBT, Narrative therapy, EFT and SFBT when working with her clients.

Nisany Gnanamoorthy

Senior Therapist-In-Training

Nisany Gnanamoorthy (She/Her) is a student placement at Henningham Associates. She has her Honours of Health Science of Public Health Specialization from Ontario Tech University and is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

As a South Asian mental health advocate, she views the world through an anti-oppressive lens, recognizing the ways in which systems of power and privilege can impact individuals' mental health and well-being. In her practice, she is committed to creating a safe space that is culturally sensitive, inclusive, and supportive by recognizing the unique challenges and experiences that individuals from the BIPOC & LGBTQA+ communities may face.

She rejects the notion that anyone is inherently "broken" and instead views individuals as dynamic and ever-evolving beings who are constantly learning and adapting to new experiences. She works collaboratively with clients through a strengths-based approach to identify their unique abilities, fostering an environment where clients feel empowered to take an active role in their own healing and growth. Outside of her therapy practice, you might find her cozied up with a good psychological thriller book, enjoying the guilty pleasure of reality TV, or working-out!
